Filipino Inventors Society(FIS) was founded on October 14, 1943 to be a national organization dedicated to the generation, promotion and development of scientific/technological research and invention and now necessary towards achieving the Philippines on Global Competency.
The FIS was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on December 28, 1953. It started with 7-member board which was amended to 15 in 1982.

It provides the impetus for conceptual research and development,the exchange of technological information, institutional linkage and advocacy. Pursuant to the Constitution, it lobbied for the approval of now RA 7459,otherwise known as the "Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines" hoped to accelarate the generation, promotion and development of Filipino technological inventive potetials. The Act embodies a 10-year tax privilege including Customs duties and charges on imports. It also establishes the Inventors Guarantee Fund (IGF) among other funding assistance for the commercialization of inventions.

Some of the Filipino inventions that have attained international prestige are the moon buggy by Eduardo San Juan, flourescent lamp by Agapito Flores, Vehicle signal light by Marcel Buncio , Floating power tiller by Maggie Villaruz, Singalong System by Roberto Del Rosario, jeep roller by Lopez and many others previous and current.

It has a voting member of the International Federation of Inventors' Association (IFIA) UN- WIPO assisted. Thus, it has been recipient of grants from both UN and IFIA to attend international fora, exhibits and conventions.
